Patties Gluten Free Lamingtons - New Improved Recipe

I have been a regular consumer of Patties Gluten Free Lamingtons for many years.
On a recent visit to the supermarket, I noticed the addition of "New Improved Recipe" to the packaging.

On tasting the "New Improved Recipe" I was immediately disappointed. In my opinion, the original recipe was perfect and did not need any "improvement". The new recipe is very different and I, sadly, won't be buying them again.

As you can see below, the ingredients list will show the differences.

Original Ingredients:
Sugar, reconstituted egg, strawberry jam [sugar, strawberries (40%), gelling agent (440), acidity regulator (330)]
coconut (9%) [contains preservative (220)], rice flour, starch (maize), water,
margarine [vegetable fats and oils(sunflower, canola, palm), salt, emulsifiers (471, 322 - sunflower), flavour, vitamins (a, d and e)],
cocoa (3%), vanilla flavour, raising agent (500), stabiliser (415).
Contains: Egg

New Ingredients:
Water, Sugar, Strawberry Jam [Sugar, Strawberries, Pectin, Citric acid], Dessicated Coconut (8%) [Coconut, Preservative (220-Sulphites)], Rice Flour, Maize starch,
Margarine [vegetable fats and oils, emulsifiers (322 - Soy, 471), antioxidant (306-Soy), Colours (160b, 100)],
Egg solids, Cocoa (2.5%), Potato starch, Sodium bicarbonate, Fruit fibre, Acidity regulator (450), Thickeners (415, 412), Humectant (420), Emulsifier (471, 475 - Soy), Natural Flavour.
Contains: Egg, Soybean products and added sulphites.

I haven't had the lamingtons but I have had a lot of the Patties Gluten Free meat pies. Unfortunately they too have been hit with the 'new improved' label & they are now awful. I won't be buying them again which is a big disappointment.

HI Jan,

Please rest assured that Patties have undertaken to produce theses so-called "New Improved Recipes' without consulting me.

Kind regards,

Very disapointed, I really enjoyed those lamingtons, I noticed they tasted different and that was not for the better, they are very spongy now. I also started to feel sick after eating them, I would enjoy one a day. Checked out the box "new recipe" oh dear... check ingredients soy - I am allergic to it - so disappointed, the old recipe was just so good - now I cannot eat them at all and they certainly do not taste better - that's the end of them for me - the only reason i can see why the recipe was changed is because the ingredients for the new recipe are cheaper... shame shame shame

Hey guys,

I tried these today and I still quite enjoyed them but I'm disappointed in the fact there is now soy in them because it's something I'm supposed to avoid if I can.

However, I looked at these lamingtons way back in the day (2010, not that long ago I suppose) and at the time I was completely soy free. I couldn't buy them then because it said they contained soy. I checked quite a few times throughout that year to make sure I was not mistaken. The new recipe is honestly the one I remember back in 2010 and now I'm confused.

I'm in Western Australia though, but I don't see why that would have made a difference.
